Chamoli Investigation Leads to Recovery of Stolen Electrical Equipment

A swift police response in Chamoli district resulted in the full recovery of electrical equipment stolen from a power‑line modernization scheme. The items, comprising PVC cable, aluminum conductor, and hardware, had been taken from sites in the Karnprayag region, intended for upgrades in villages like Nauti, Pudiani and Jakh.

Following a complaint lodged by TS Power Corporation’s site engineer, a dedicated team headed by Circle Officer Triveni Singh Rana examined the crime scene, analyzed surveillance footage, and tracked a suspect vehicle’s nighttime route. The vehicle was intercepted at a gaunser post, where the stolen cargo was seized and the four alleged thieves were apprehended.

All four detainees – Mohammad Danish, Chand Mohammad, Farmaan and Suwab – hail from Uttar Pradesh. The incident highlights the vigilance of Chamoli police in protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring the continuity of electricity projects.
