Central Minister Commits Funds to Accelerate Samba‑Battal Road Works
In a rapid response to local petitions, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed that the BRO has been instructed to allocate ₹38.84 crore for the rehabilitation of the Samba‑Battal road, a vital link in Jammu and Kashmir’s border region. The minister shared the update on X, noting that the money will be released within seven days and that reconstruction has already started. Current tasks focus on fixing monsoon‑related damage, erecting toe‑walls and retaining walls, installing two culverts and resurfacing a 422‑metre segment. The larger scheme, pending approval, envisions extensive upgrades such as 78 more toe‑walls, an additional culvert, an 8.3‑km line drain and full resurfacing of the remaining damaged stretch.
