Celebrity backs Jharkhand exam protest, urges peaceful demonstration

Ranchi – The sit‑in by students protesting alleged irregularities in Jharkhand’s recruitment examinations received a notable boost on August 8 when actor‑singer‑writer Piyush Mishra arrived at the protest venue in Jaypal Singh Munda Stadium. Engaging with the demonstrators, Mishra expressed solidarity, sang his signature song “Aarambh Hai Pracand”, and observed the heightened morale among the crowd. He explained that witnessing the anguish in students’ interviews compelled him to spend two days supporting their cause, despite the film industry’s relative silence. Mishra emphasized that the industry is not monolithic and urged fellow artists to stand with the students. He praised the protesters as the nation’s future, underscoring the importance of their demand for a CBI inquiry into alleged paper leaks and better examination management. The celebrity appealed for calm, non‑violent conduct, prohibiting profanity or political interference, and proposed tangible aid such as medical assistance, food, cash, and essential supplies like mattresses and blankets. The protest, ongoing since July 29, calls for a CBI/ED investigation into the alleged misconduct surrounding the 14th JPSC preliminary and other recruitment tests.
