The Central Bureau of Investigation has disclosed that Gupta Power Infrastructure Ltd fabricated the market value of its shares and inflated outstanding commercial dues to obtain larger loans from Kenra Bank. The alleged scheme, worth roughly ₹1,109 crore, involved diversion of loan amounts and an attempt to keep the accounts “ever‑green,” causing significant financial loss to the lender. Searches conducted on July 18 in West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand resulted in the seizure of critical documents, including transaction ledgers and board resolutions, as the agency seeks to piece together the full extent of the fraud.
