CBI probe into Karur guard death becomes political football, says minister

Minister Nirmal Kumar described the Central Bureau of Investigation's inquiry into the alleged custodial death of security guard Ajith Kumar as a "political football" being played by opposition parties. He asserted that the opposition has shifted from questioning the need for a CBI probe to filing fresh petitions in courts to stall the investigation.

Kumar pointed out that the CBI has yet to file a charge sheet, indicating that the inquiry is still ongoing. He warned that the opposition is trying to use the pending investigation to damage the reputation of the ruling government and to curb the chief minister's outreach plans.

The minister concluded that the opposition's tactics have failed so far, and that their attempts to weaken the ruling coalition by exploiting the case will not succeed.
