CBI also nabs DGFT assistant in Punjab on bribery charges

In a separate crackdown, the CBI detained an Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in Panipat, Haryana, on allegations of demanding a Rs 30,000 bribe. The official allegedly sought the payment from a complainant to expedite the processing of an Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) authorization file.

The agency set up a sting operation, during which the accused was caught accepting the money on camera. The arrest adds to a series of anti‑corruption actions taken by the CBI this month, highlighting a broader effort to root out bribery in public offices.
