CBI Inquiry Sought as Karnataka State Service Commission Faces Accusations of Large‑Scale Vet Recruitment Fraud

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, responsible for micro, small and medium enterprises as well as labour and employment, wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah on August 2 requesting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Karnataka State Service Commission's (KSSC) veterinary officer hiring process. The letter highlighted serious accusations of corruption, abuse of power, and a coordinated scheme to manipulate the selection process.

Karandlaje warned that the alleged breaches, if left unchecked, could severely weaken public faith in the impartiality and honesty of government recruitment. She emphasized that the alleged wrongdoing involves large‑scale illegal money exchanges and systematic exploitation of the recruitment system.

Citing Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution, the minister stressed that the integrity of the KSSC is vital for guaranteeing equal opportunity in public employment. Any compromise would represent both an injustice to eligible candidates and a blow to constitutional trust.

The minister called for a fair, independent and exhaustive CBI investigation to uncover the full scope of the alleged conspiracy, identify all participants, trace illegal financial transactions, and scrutinise the involvement of officials and intermediaries. She appealed for swift action to protect the principles of justice, transparency and constitutional governance.
