CAIT to Launch Awareness Drive on Reality of Proposed MDR

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) announced a nationwide awareness drive aimed at clarifying the facts surrounding the proposed Merchant Discount Rate on UPI payments. The initiative will focus on dispelling myths circulated by opposition groups and will explain why the fee was initially suggested.

Organizers plan to use social media posts, informational leaflets, and interactive workshops to reach traders in urban and rural markets. The campaign will highlight how the temporary suspension of the MDR protects merchants during the festive period and will outline the steps required for any future implementation.

CAIT officials emphasized that transparent communication is essential to maintain confidence in digital payment systems and to ensure that merchants can make informed decisions about adopting new fee structures.
