Thousands of Candidates Seek Fair Chance Amid New Qualification Changes

The recent revision of eligibility standards for the upcoming TGT and PGT recruitment has sparked concern among a large pool of hopeful teachers in Uttar Pradesh. Ajay Rai, head of the state Congress, pointed out that many aspirants completed their academic qualifications based on the previous rule book and have been preparing for the exams for months.

He warned that the sudden change could disqualify a significant number of these candidates, effectively nullifying their years of effort. Rai appealed to both the chief minister and the education service commission to consider a transitional provision that would protect the interests of those who cannot re‑qualify within the limited timeframe.

The appeal also highlights practical constraints such as age limits and financial considerations that prevent many candidates from retaking courses or waiting for the next recruitment cycle. Rai urged a balanced approach that safeguards both the merit of the selection process and the legitimate expectations of the candidates.
