Canadian Pension Funds Discuss Co‑Investment Opportunities in India’s Infrastructure
During the roundtable, senior officials from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) met with Minister Sitharaman to review existing collaborations and future prospects.
OTPP’s President and CEO Taylor praised the long‑standing partnership with India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and explored avenues to expand co‑investment in transmission, transport, urban infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Sitharaman highlighted the Gift‑IFSC platform as a gateway for global investors to access Indian markets efficiently. She urged pension funds to increase allocations to Indian infrastructure, citing attractive returns and a supportive policy backdrop.
CPPIB’s John Graham echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the fund’s commitment to long‑term investments in Indian roads, ports, digital infrastructure and data centres.
