Calls for transparent probe into alleged DUSU election irregularities

Delhi, September 19 – The Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) polls concluded with the ABVP winning three out of four seats. In the wake of the results, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee lodged a series of complaints alleging discrimination and procedural violations.

Congress president Devendra Yadav asserted that NSUI candidates faced obstacles in securing permission to campaign within college campuses, while ABVP candidates were allegedly facilitated with venues. He also cited instances where candidates, who failed to meet the university's eligibility standards, were still allowed to canvass, apparently breaching the gender‑sensitisation committee's guidelines.

Yadav questioned the use of university infrastructure for ABVP meetings, contending that such activities fall outside the scope of the election code of conduct. He also raised concerns about the transparency of electronic voting machine usage and the subsequent vote tally.

The Congress leader demanded an independent, impartial investigation into each allegation, urging the university to publish a detailed report on how election norms were applied across all student organisations. He stressed that safeguarding democratic processes on campus requires equal treatment for every candidate and strict adherence to the established code of conduct.
