Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav brought cheers to Burhanpur with announcements of Rs 700 crore worth of development works, including a dedicated agriculture-focused Regional Industry Conclave. Speaking at a public event on Saturday, he painted a vibrant future for the textile and farming powerhouse.
The district’s powerloom industry and cotton fields are legendary, earning it the moniker ‘city of weavers.’ Yadav spotlighted opportunities in textiles, drugs, furniture, pipes, and agricultural machinery. A processing unit for bananas—complete with value addition, storage, and processing—will empower local growers.
Infrastructure leaps forward with a mini airport, new roads linking Khamni-Dahi Handi, Khamni-Raigaon, and Shahpur-Sukhpuri. Shahpur’s Nagar Parishad eyes municipal status, while a Kirtan Kendra serves the Warkari community.
This conclave follows successful events in Sagar, Jabalpur, Rewa, building momentum for decentralized growth. With textile demands fueling cotton farming, Yadav committed to enhanced processing and export hubs for key crops like bananas and cotton, fortifying farmer prosperity and industrial backbone.
