Pakur, Jharkhand erupted in panic after a festive Holi celebration turned deadly with the stabbing of 40-year-old Deoraj Sarkar in Talwadanga village. The incident occurred Wednesday evening near his residence in the Nagar police station area, where a mob of youths unleashed a savage attack using sharp weapons.
According to police, Deoraj was enjoying Holi with friends before heading home. Barely settled, he was accosted by 10 armed men around 4 PM. A heated argument spiraled into chaos, with the group pummeling and slashing him mercilessly. His father, Meghnath, stood helpless as the assault happened before his eyes, begging the attackers to stop while neighbors watched in terror.
In a frantic bid to save him, relatives ferried the gravely wounded man to hospital, but he succumbed en route. Officers took custody of the body for autopsy and have zeroed in on the perpetrators. Though the family insists Deoraj had no disputes, the motive remains unclear as special teams comb the area for arrests.
Heightened security now blankets the village amid simmering unrest. Authorities vow swift justice, but the brazen daylight murder has left residents questioning festival security measures. This case underscores the urgent need for better vigilance during community celebrations in the region.
