BRS Leader Takes Dig at Delhi Vote Chori Rally Plans
A day before the India bloc's planned rally in Delhi, senior BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao has taken a satirical swipe at Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Rama Rao, who is BRS working president and a former Telangana minister, made the comments on Sunday.
Referring to the protest against 'vote chori' in the capital, Rama Rao said on social media that the event would feature a 'MLA-chor' and a 'vote-for-note-chor'. He suggested that the demonstration was purely a Congress affair.
On Facebook, he took a harder line, saying Rahul Gandhi had persuaded 10 BRS MLAs in Telangana to join Congress and was now sitting on a dharna with Revanth Reddy, a 'vote for note' scamster, against vote chori across the country. “My point ends here,” he wrote, adding, “Long live Indian democracy.”
The remarks follow Gandhi's announcement on Saturday of a 'Chalo Delhi' march planned for November 1. The march will begin at the Minto Road-Connaught Place junction and proceed to the Ramlila Ground. Delhi Police sources, however, said that no permission had been sought for a march from Connaught Place.
Gandhi shared the route and timing on Facebook, writing, “See you tomorrow, let’s walk together. Connaught Place, Minto Road Junction-Ajmeri Gate-Ramlila Ground, November 1, 12 noon.”
The march will culminate in a rally at the Ramlila Ground against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The opposition will accuse him of irregularities in the voter list revision process and call for his resignation.
