Haryana’s Jhajjar district witnessed a major police success on April 11 as one suspect was nabbed in connection with the shocking killing of Sahil alias Sonu in Deeghel village three days earlier. The 26-year-old financier was ruthlessly shot dead by gunmen emerging from a black Scorpio SUV late on April 8.
The swift response from law enforcement set the tone for a high-stakes manhunt. Commissioner Dr. Rajshri Singh ordered the creation of five dedicated teams to pursue the killers. CCTV analysis from nearby locations provided the first solid leads, showing the vehicle’s movements before and after the hit.
Acting on digital footprints and video evidence, officers from Dujana station and the crime branch raided Noida’s Sector-37, capturing Shivam from New Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan. In custody, he admitted links to Deeghel locals Yogesh alias Yogi and Sandeep alias Leela, pointing to a web of local rivalries.
Speaking at a press conference, DCP Dharna Yadav detailed Shivam’s background: a college dropout who briefly worked in the private sector before turning to crime. The motive, she confirmed, revolves around longstanding grudges. The murder weapon’s vehicle, a black Scorpio, was already seized from Machrauli jurisdiction.
With Shivam now under four-day remand, police aim to extract vital information on accomplices and the plot’s finer details. This development underscores Jhajjar police’s commitment to cracking down on gang violence, offering hope amid rising concerns over targeted killings in rural Haryana.
