Border districts on high alert after Nepal’s Bhotekoshi flood threatens water levels

Following the severe flooding in Nepal’s Rasuwa region caused by the Bhotekoshi River, Uttar Pradesh’s border districts Maharajganj and Kushinagar have been placed on heightened alert. The chief minister described the cross‑border flood damage as highly concerning and instructed local authorities to make all necessary preparations. Rising water levels in the Gandak and Narayani rivers are expected, prompting officials to keep a close watch on river gauges and act swiftly if the situation worsens.
