BLO absenteeism hampers ASDD voter form filings, says Maharashtra MLA

During the ongoing Special Intensive Review in Maharashtra, the state’s Congress representative, Amin Patel, raised concerns about the non‑availability of Block Level Officers at designated hearing locations.

Patel’s correspondence to the Chief Electoral Officer states that voters classified as Absent, Shifted, Deceased or Duplicate are facing “significant difficulty” in submitting the mandatory Form‑6, as BLOs are not present at the scheduled venues.

The MLA further accused certain BLOs of ignoring phone calls or keeping their mobile numbers inactive, making it impossible for voters to obtain guidance or submit required documents.

He urged the election administration to address the staffing gaps promptly and to honor his request for moving the deadline to October 31, thereby giving voters a realistic chance to be heard.
