Black‑Clad BJP Members March to Congress HQ in Bhopal, Cite Constitutional Concerns

In a coordinated display of dissent, BJP leaders in Bhopal marched in black attire toward the local Congress office on July 22. The demonstration was a direct response to a sit‑in organised by Rahul Gandhi in Delhi’s Prime Minister’s residence area, which the BJP described as an affront to India’s Constitution.

Hemant Khandelwal, the party’s state president, condemned Gandhi’s actions as an attempt to erode democratic values. He accused the opposition of capitalising on public disorder to gain political mileage.

The protest route led the BJP contingent to the Congress premises, but police intervention created a barricade that stopped further progression. Outside the building, Congress activists stood with flowers, seemingly offering a conciliatory gesture despite the charged atmosphere.

The incident reflects heightened political rivalry in Madhya Pradesh, where both parties are mobilising grassroots support ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
