In a biting political jab, BJP leader Syed Shah Nawaz Hussain ridiculed Congress’s Mani Shankar Aiyar for floating Mamata Banerjee as the head of the INDIA alliance. Speaking to IANS in New Delhi, Hussain declared the bloc ‘long dead’ and accused Aiyar of futile revival efforts. ‘If he’s so keen, Aiyar should take the helm—he’s far more capable,’ Hussain proposed sarcastically.
Highlighting Aiyar’s illustrious career as an IFS officer and seasoned MP, Hussain contrasted it with Banerjee’s profile. ‘Congress and INDIA need his expertise. Let’s make him chief; we’re pushing his name since it’s ignored otherwise.’ He rubbished the alliance’s existence—no headquarters, no leader, dissolved post-elections with ceremonial last rites.
On JNU’s chaotic clashes, Hussain pointed fingers at leftist outfits. ‘These goons go beyond sloganeering to physical attacks on ABVP students. Strict police action is imperative.’ Regarding Taliban edicts greenlighting brutal assaults on women, he lambasted: ‘They beat women till bones crack; we should reciprocate in kind to teach them a lesson.’
Hussain also backed PM Modi’s Congress criticism amid the AI summit fiasco, attributing the PM’s anger to the party’s shameful conduct that tarnished India’s global image. ‘Their naked propaganda stands exposed,’ he asserted, wrapping up with a call for accountability in opposition ranks.
