West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh turned up the heat on Mamata Banerjee’s administration during a public address in Kharagpur, questioning their ability to deliver after 15 years in power. ‘If they couldn’t do anything in 15 years, what miracles will they perform now?’ he quipped, drawing applause from the crowd.

In a candid interview, Ghosh spotlighted irregularities in the election machinery. He claimed police personnel are actively pressuring voters to support TMC, disregarding directives from the Election Commission. ‘We always anticipated the use of explosives, firearms, and cash to influence votes, and sadly, it’s unfolding before our eyes,’ Ghosh asserted, emphasizing the threat to democratic norms.

This comes on the heels of Amit Shah’s blistering speech in Bankura, where the Home Minister lambasted the state government. Shah promised a BJP regime would purge illegal settlers from Bengal soil, a pledge aimed at addressing long-standing grievances over infiltration.

Shah also took aim at the notorious syndicates plaguing construction and other sectors, vowing to dismantle them ruthlessly. ‘We’ll turn them upside down to straighten them out,’ he declared. Mocking Mamata as the ‘queen of diamonds,’ he called for her electoral defeat in the upcoming phases.

As West Bengal gears up for phased polling—April 23 for the first round, April 29 for the second, and counting on May 4—Ghosh’s allegations amplify BJP’s campaign narrative. The party is positioning itself as the sole force capable of restoring law and order, rooting out corruption, and ensuring free and fair elections in a state rife with political tensions.
