BJP Welcomes Sukendu Shekhar Roy, Sushmita Dev and Prakash Chik Barik

In a high‑profile meeting at the Salt Lake BJP state office, former Trinamool Rajya Sabha MPs Sukendu Shekhar Roy, Sushmita Dev and Prasad Chik Barik were received by West Bengal BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya. The trio, who tendered their resignations from the Upper House on 8, 10 and 11 June respectively, were handed the party flag as a symbol of their new affiliation. Bhattacharya stressed that the decision to admit them was a special case and does not imply a sweeping outreach to the Trinamool cadre. He also noted that none of the three faced any corruption allegations while they were part of the Trinamool fold. The political fallout of their shift is expected to influence the dynamics of the pending Rajya Sabha by‑elections.
