BJP Telangana Chief Accuses Opposition of Undermining Security Measures
Hyderabad, October 15 – N. Ramachandra Rao, the chief of the BJP in Telangana, issued a sharp rebuttal to the Congress and AAP after they condemned recent police actions taken to contain protests that threatened public order. Rao stressed that the government's top priority is preserving law and order, ensuring safety, and protecting property.
He highlighted that the opposition’s student wing, NSUI, attempted to breach peace, prompting the administration to act decisively. Rao reminded the audience that during the Congress’s previous tenure, an emergency was declared and many, even school‑age students, were incarcerated under stringent security laws such as the Defence of India Act and the Internal Security Maintenance Act.
“The present steps are entirely about safeguarding citizens. The opposition’s continued objection is unwarranted,” Rao said. He also singled out MP Asaduddin Owaisi, accusing the lawmaker of filing a Supreme Court review petition that falsely suggests minority voters are being removed from the electoral list.
According to Rao, no minority name has been deleted; the claim is a deliberate attempt to create fear and bolster vote‑bank politics. He urged all parties to focus on ensuring that every Indian remains a voter, not to exploit procedural issues for political gain.
Rao noted the Supreme Court has already clarified the procedure on the removal of entries, delivering a detailed judgment. He concluded that Owaisi’s petitions are merely a tactic to strengthen his standing among minority communities while the administration continues to enforce law and order.
