In a stark warning from Bengaluru, Karnataka’s BJP has declared that adding names of Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals to voter lists poses a direct threat to India’s national security. During a press briefing on Saturday, Leader of Opposition R Ashok decried the voter list’s Special Intensive Revision process, vowing zero tolerance for fraudulent entries.
‘These individuals are sneaking into our state,’ Ashok claimed, emphasizing how such inclusions could grant them undue rights akin to citizens, compromising safety. He detailed insights from a key workshop on preventive strategies, which he personally joined to strategize against this vulnerability.
Ashok didn’t spare CM Siddaramaiah, ridiculing his anti-dynasty rhetoric contradicted by pleas for his son’s political support. ‘From kings crowning princes to modern dynasties—democracy is at risk,’ he said, invoking Ambedkar’s legacy of merit-based leadership over family fiefdoms.
Leaders must win elections on merit, not lineage, Ashok stressed. Addressing LPG black marketing, he pointed to legal safeguards in place and pressed the government for stringent action. He lambasted the CM for crisis exploitation via political meets and opulent dinners, even as budgets draw quiet dissent from Congress ranks.
With citizens enduring tough times, BJP calls for vigilance in voter verification and governance reforms to shield the electorate from both external threats and internal nepotism.
