BJP MP questions Thackeray’s power to shield Ram as party faces defeats
During a press briefing in Lucknow on July 12, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma challenged Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Aditya Thackeray’s declaration that his party was protecting Lord Ram from the BJP. Sharma mockingly described Thackeray as a “child” in the political arena, emphasizing that he lacks the experience to back such grand statements. He suggested that Thackeray’s ego‑driven narrative, which claims the BJP is trying to divert attention from alleged Ram temple embezzlement by raising the Uniform Civil Code, is nothing more than political theatrics.
Sharma argued that if Thackeray truly possessed the power to safeguard a deity, he would have been able to prevent his own party’s recent electoral setbacks. He warned that the public would soon reject such hollow promises. The BJP MP also referenced successful social endeavors such as the Tirupati Balaji offering, which funds essential services like hospitals and schools, and reiterated the development plans for the Ram Janmabhoomi site.
The conversation later turned to Jammu and Kashmir, where Sharma took aim at Chief Minister Umar Abdullah’s recent remarks, insinuating they stemmed from personal bitterness rather than policy. Sharma assured that the BJP respects democratic norms and does not require any backdoor arrangements. He concluded by praising the large‑scale ‘One Tree for Mother’ plantation drive, describing it as a landmark environmental effort involving widespread public participation.
