BJP leadership to address organisational gaps during West Bengal visit

Nitin Novak, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, is scheduled to land in West Bengal on September 15 for a two‑day engagement that will see him meet with state party heads and senior organiser B.L. Santos. The agenda is described as “intensely busy,” with multiple sessions aimed at refining the party’s internal structure.

Among the discussion points are the establishment of a revamped state committee, necessary adjustments within the organisational hierarchy, and steps to synchronize the party’s work with the functions of the state government. Novak and Santos are expected to lay down actionable directives to improve coordination at all levels.

Since the BJP’s entry into power following the state assembly elections, the party’s presence across districts has strengthened markedly. Yet, internal reviews have highlighted persisting organisational shortcomings that need urgent remediation.

Party insiders note that the conduct of several local leaders is under scrutiny, with allegations of corrupt practices and internal discord between newer entrants and veteran activists surfacing. A senior committee member indicated that these issues will be part of the deliberations in meetings chaired by Novak later in the month.

The visit will also touch upon the strategic planning for upcoming urban local body elections, particularly the Kolkata and Howrah municipal polls. The state committee emphasized that the BJP is finalising its campaign blueprint for these elections and anticipates that Novak’s presence will reinforce messages aimed at bolstering ground‑level coordination.
