In a pointed critique from Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Saravgi, the Congress stands accused of neglecting women’s reservation for years. During an IANS interview, Saravgi contrasted this with BJP’s proactive steps in Bihar, where women’s quotas were introduced in municipal bodies and panchayats upon assuming power.
‘This empowered thousands of women from top municipal posts to grassroots levels,’ Saravgi remarked. He lauded PM Modi’s lightning-fast passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament within three days—a feat beyond Congress’s 30-year tenure.
Looking ahead, Saravgi said PM Modi is resolute about women’s participation in legislation and electoral quotas, with a key parliamentary session slated for April 16-18. He questioned the opposition’s sincerity on the issue.
Saravgi spotlighted BJP’s West Bengal manifesto, featuring Rs 3,000 monthly aid for women and employment for one crore citizens. He slammed the ruling dispensation for protecting illegal immigrants like Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, promising their deportation under BJP governance.
Addressing rampant ‘hafta’ demands in the state, Saravgi promised relief for businesses and reaffirmed public faith in BJP’s delivery. ‘TMC’s reign is over; BJP’s government is coming,’ he asserted.
Regarding Justice Yashwant Varma, Saravgi stated the resignation aligns with ongoing impeachment over proven corruption charges.
