BJP Leader Defends Shah's Visit and Welfare Schemes
New Delhi, October 28: BJP national spokesperson RP Singh has defended Union Home Minister Amit Shah's Uttar Pradesh visit and the party's 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajkta Hatao' campaign, while also responding to remarks by Maulana Arshad Madani and criticising the Congress.
Singh said Amit Shah is a major strategist for the BJP and that his visits to Uttar Pradesh are linked to the state Assembly elections scheduled for next year. He said he is confident the people of the state will again support the BJP and install Yogi Adityanath as chief minister.
He said the padyatra would be led by BJP national president Nitin Nabin. The march will begin at the Red Fort in Delhi and end at the MCD Town Hall.
Singh accused certain sections of trying to spread anarchy in the country in recent days. He said a matter that he considers a non-issue was being made into a subject of dispute.
Citing the Election Commission, he said the poll body had submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court and clarified that all decisions were made unanimously. He accused the Congress of trying to increase the controversy and generate political instability.
Reacting to Maulana Arshad Madani's statement, Singh said the Modi government's welfare schemes are reaching Muslims too. He pointed to Ayushman Bharat and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
According to Singh, Muslims form around 30 to 34 percent of beneficiaries of these schemes, compared with their 14 to 15 percent share of the national population. He said this shows the government is not discriminating against the community. He also stressed that any court order in a case must be obeyed by all.
