Rahul Gandhi criticised by BJP over his call for swift Starlink spectrum allocation
BJP’s Ram Madhav turned his focus to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning the consistency of Gandhi’s remarks on spectrum policy. Madhav reminded reporters that Gandhi had earlier labeled the Modi administration as a government that had “surrendered” to President Trump and Elon Musk.
Now, Gandhi is urging the authorities to expedite a spectrum grant for Starlink, a move Madhav described as opportunistic. He said the demand contradicted Gandhi’s prior narrative and seemed designed to pressure the regulator.
Madhav added that the Indian telecom sector operates under a clear legal framework, and any allocation – whether to an Indian carrier or to a foreign satellite provider – will be processed without discrimination. He warned that attempts to politicise the issue would be met with firm resistance.
