BJP Calls Viral Social Media Claims About Women’s Liquor Stores False

The Bharatiya Janata Party dismissed on Friday the viral allegations that Madhya Pradesh intends to establish exclusive liquor stores for women. Spokesperson Ashish Agrawal explained that the notion was introduced by the former Congress administration in February 2020 and was met with vigorous opposition from the BJP, causing the proposal to be shelved. After the BJP formed the state government in March 2020, the plan was never revived. The party stressed that there is no current consideration for such a proposal and reiterated its commitment to closing liquor shops near temples, mosques, and other sensitive zones. Voters were appealed to verify information before resharing it.
