BJP accuses Tamil Nadu officials of neglecting child safety after two assaults
Chennai, 8 October – In a statement shared via X, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran reproached the state government for its handling of two separate sexual assault cases involving minors. He highlighted the shock over a five‑year‑old girl from a migrant family being abused in Tiruvottiyur and recalled a previous episode in Gummidipundi where a three‑year‑old suffered a similar fate. Nagendran charged that the administration’s failure to protect children reflects deeper law‑and‑order deterioration. He called for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators, fast‑track prosecution under the POCSO Act, and assured medical assistance for the victims. The BJP chief also criticised the chief minister’s oversight of the police and home department, accusing them of relying on "hollow promises" and warning of political repercussions if safety concerns persist.
