BJP Accused of Turning Ram Temple into Commercial Hub, Says Congress Leader

Ayodhya – On August 23, Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai accused the ruling BJP of attempting to transform the Ram Temple complex into a commercial centre.

Speaking after a devotional ceremony at Hanumangarhi, Rai highlighted the growing frustration of citizens faced with high inflation, price spikes in essential commodities and perceived governmental neglect.

He called upon Lord Hanuman to ensure that those linked to the alleged diversion of temple funds face legal consequences, stating, “We have complete faith in Hanuman; let him wield his mace against the money thieves.”

Rai condemned the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer for the temple, arguing that religious scholars, not bureaucrats, should manage a site of worship. He warned that any move to commercialise the shrine would be fiercely opposed by the Congress.

The leader also pointed out that the average household is burdened by rising costs of sugar, medicines and food items, promising that the party will organise protests across the state once investigation reports are made public.

When queried about possible pre‑election alliances, Rai deferred to the party’s national leadership, but reiterated the Congress’s resolve to contest the 2027 assembly polls with maximum force to oust the BJP.

The rally concluded with a reception by senior district leaders, followed by a strategic meeting at the district Congress office to strengthen organisational structures and plan outreach to villages ahead of future elections.
