The Biju Janata Dal has placed the state election machinery under a microscope following the Election Commission’s directive for a Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. Although the revision formally starts on 1 July, the opposition argues that training modules for Booth Level Officers are still unclear and that political parties have not received adequate briefing schedules. Debi Prasad Mishra revealed that the Chief Electoral Officer conceded some lapses and assured fixes, yet BJD remains unconvinced. Citing parallel complaints from other states, Mishra said the party will not tolerate any attempt to disenfranchise voters. Separately, BJD MP Sulata Deo alleged that her verified social-media account was deliberately suspended to silence criticism of the ruling BJP on issues ranging from drinking-water access to homelessness. The opposition maintains that any voter-roll revision must be open, fair and free from political interference.
