Biometric Survey of Myanmar Displaced Persons Begins in Kamjong
Kamjong, a frontier district of Manipur that shares a barrier‑free border with Myanmar, saw the rollout of a comprehensive biometric registration exercise on June 30. The effort, led by the Assam Rifles in partnership with the state civil administration and Manipur police, targeted villages where Myanmar nationals have sought temporary refuge following unrest in their homeland. Over 500 individuals from PhaiKoh, Shangkhalk and Aloyo were verified, their biometric details entered into a secure system and their demographic profiles documented. This activity constitutes the second stage of "Operation Anchor," a citizen‑military initiative designed to balance national security imperatives along the India‑Myanmar border with transparent humanitarian monitoring.
