A fatal choking case in Bihar underscores the dangers of giving small children dense sweets. Shivam Kumar, eight, from Sonu Bigaha, ignored his family’s advice and ate a rasgulla before running around his home. A slip caused the candy to lodge in his throat, leading to severe breathing difficulty.

Medical teams at the local health centre consulted with specialists at Magadh Medical College, but the boy’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Local authorities are now advising residents to keep sugary, sticky foods out of reach of young children and to educate families about basic first‑aid measures for choking.
