Three New Riverfront Expressways to Drive Bihar’s Growth

Bihar is set for a massive infrastructural transformation with the introduction of three mega expressways designed to run parallel to its iconic rivers. The state government’s ambitious plan involves the creation of the Vishwamitra, Ambika, and Narayani Paths, totaling 220 kilometers of high-speed road network. These projects are intended to serve as the backbone of Bihar's future economic and industrial development. The Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC) is currently selecting consultancy agencies to handle technical studies, land acquisition, and environmental clearances. Over the next 12 months, these agencies will prepare comprehensive reports to pave the way for construction under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. While the Vishwamitra Path focuses on the connection to Uttar Pradesh, the 56-kilometer Ganga Ambika Path is strategically planned to solve urban congestion. Connecting Bidupur, Sonpur, and Dighwara, this expressway will act as a vital link between the JP Setu, Gandhi Setu, and the Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge. More importantly, it will provide high-speed access to the proposed international airport, making travel more efficient for both domestic and international commuters. By diverting heavy traffic away from the heart of Patna, the Ambika Path will modernize the capital's transit landscape while opening new avenues for commercial development along the Ganga riverfront.
