Gopalganj’s law enforcers have delivered justice to the devotees of Thave Bhavani by apprehending the quartet behind the shocking temple robbery. The heist, which stripped the goddess of her sacred gold crown and jewels exactly one month prior, saw a dramatic resolution with full recovery of the loot.
On December 17-18 night, brazen thieves in disguises ransacked the Thave Durga Temple complex. Police launched relentless raids following the SIT’s constitution. The culprits—Sharif Alam alias Urf, Chand Alam, an unidentified woman, and Ejaz Ali from Siwan—were all rounded up.
Sharif Alam proved the slipperiest, dodging checkpoints by hopping between districts. A secret informant led police to his Bhojpurwa lair, where the glittering haul was unearthed: partial gold crown, necklace segments, and silver canopy.
SP Vinay Tiwari detailed the operation in a media briefing, praising the SIT’s efficiency. Key players like SDPO Pranjal Kumar, Inspector Karmveer Singh, Kateya SHO Om Prakash Chauhan, and others will testify soon for a speedy trial. Court remanded the thieves to jail, promising rigorous punishment.
This case underscores Bihar police’s commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage amid rising temple thefts, bringing closure to a community in mourning.
