Bihar’s crackdown on fake degree holders intensified as Supaul Circle Officer Prince Raj was unceremoniously removed from his post after 21 years of deception. The cabinet, under CM Nitish Kumar, endorsed the dismissal on Friday, leading to an official order from the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. What began as a routine verification spiraled into a bombshell revelation of identity fraud.
Hailing from Madhubani, Raj joined the civil services via BPSC’s 60-62nd exams. Investigators found he cleared his matric exam twice under different names to fudge his eligibility. First, as Dharmendra Kumar in 2004 from Khirhar High School, and then as Prince Raj in 2006 from Manmohan STSWY High School—both in Madhubani.
The SVU’s 2025 deep dive exposed the ruse: one man gaming the system with dual identities. BSEB acted swiftly, voiding the 2006 certificate on August 1. Post-cancellation, the department sought BPSC’s input before executing the termination, marking a textbook case of bureaucratic accountability.
Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, doubling as Deputy CM, didn’t mince words. He announced a statewide audit of dubious appointments, promising swift justice. ‘Promotions for the upright, dismissal for the fraudulent—this is the new norm,’ Sinha affirmed. The move signals Bihar’s zero-tolerance policy amid ongoing battles against entrenched corruption in recruitments.
As Prince Raj’s career crumbles, the episode highlights systemic vulnerabilities exploited for decades. With vigilance teams on high alert, more skeletons may tumble out, fortifying Bihar’s governance against such betrayals of public trust.
