State asked to submit response on Rs 307 crore tender by Nov 19

The petition states that between June 2024 and 18 April 2026, a total of 57 supply orders were issued for the dustbins and bags, amounting to a contract value of roughly Rs 307 crore, inclusive of 18% GST. By contrast, quotations from four other vendors suggest that the same items could have been procured for about Rs 29 crore.

The high court has therefore instructed the Bihar government to file a formal response outlining the justification for the Rs 307 crore expenditure, the criteria used to select the Lucknow‑based SS Medical System as the sole supplier, and any safeguards that were in place to prevent price manipulation.
