Silver Gains Over 10% in a Month, Prices Hit New Highs Across India
Silver has posted a strong performance this month, climbing more than 10% since the end of July. The 999 fine silver price reached Rs 2,45,540 per kilogram on August 25, up from Rs 2,21,780 a month earlier. This rise translates to a weekly gain of 3.24%.
Across Indian cities, the standard 10‑gram silver price is Rs 2,600, with Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi listing a slightly higher Rs 2,650. The kilogram rates follow the same pattern, standing at Rs 2,60,000 in most metros and Rs 2,65,000 in the southern tier.
The metal’s rally is attributed to profit‑taking in gold, a firmer U.S. dollar, and broader market sentiment favoring safe‑haven assets. While jewellery buyers may feel the pinch of higher prices, investors view the surge as a solid return on a traditionally stable asset.
Market commentary highlights that despite short‑term corrections, the underlying demand for silver remains buoyant, supported by industrial applications and investment interest. The metal’s performance mirrors the broader trend of precious metals benefitting from geopolitical uncertainty and monetary policy shifts.
