Human Trafficking: Samastipur Student Freed After Brutal Abuse

In a distressing episode of child trafficking, a ninth‑grade student from Ujiyarpur village, Samastipur, was abducted on May 27, 2023. The girl, only 13, was deceived by a local boy who claimed a marriage proposal and took her by bike to Patna Junction, where she was handed over to a criminal gang operating out of Islampur, West Bengal.

The girl was taken to a red‑light district, drugged, and forced into prostitution. She suffered severe physical injuries, mental trauma, denial of food, and frequent beatings. She later learned that during a police raid, the perpetrators concealed eight other minor girls behind a window, suggesting a broader exploitation network.

Rescue came when a fruit vendor from Kishanganj visited the red‑light area, listened to her desperate plea and decided to intervene. On October 30, the vendor bribed the brothel’s manager under the guise of a market purchase, transferred the girl through several vehicles and ultimately placed her on a train heading toward Patna. She reached her family in Dalsinghsarai on November 2 after three years of captivity.

Following her return, the police performed a medical check‑up, recorded her testimony and reopened the case as a serious human‑trafficking offense. Two alleged kidnappers have been arrested but released on bail pending further inquiry. The investigation now focuses on the interstate trafficking syndicate and any additional accomplices.
