Rescue and Relief Efforts Accelerate as Water Levels Rise in Saran, Bihar

As the Gandak river pushes its banks, floodwaters have spread to the lower sections of villages such as Baniya Hasanpur and Chanchalia in Taraiya block. Approximately 500 homes are now water‑logged, prompting an urgent need for evacuation and medical assistance.

Rescue teams are operating from thirty‑three boats, while three NDRF and SDRF units assist in high‑risk zones. An ambulance stands ready for critical cases, and five medical camps are providing treatment and basic health supplies.

The district’s disaster response includes continuous monitoring by officials, distribution of protective sheets, and the preparation of additional shelters in anticipation of further inundation in neighboring blocks like Parsa, Dariyapur, and Sonpur.
