Rescue Operations Intensify as Over 1000 Missing After Nepal Flood

The Nepalese army, armed police, and civilian volunteers have launched a coordinated rescue drive using twelve helicopters, ground crews and specialist medical teams from Kathmandu. To date more than 25 people have been pulled from the debris, but estimates suggest that over 1,000 individuals could be trapped or swept away, including more than 300 foreign nationals and 105 Indian citizens. Over 400 tourists are reported missing, and the flood has destroyed 13 hydro‑power projects and a key bridge linking Dhadingbesi to the rest of the district. The rugged terrain and blocked roads are hampering relief efforts, yet authorities say the operation is being accelerated.
