Gold and silver prices in India rose sharply as the US dollar lost ground against other currencies. Spot gold fell to USD 4,456.72 per ounce, while silver slipped to USD 65.82 per ounce, but domestic rates moved higher due to the dollar’s weakness and declining US Treasury yields. In Delhi, 24 K gold fetched ₹15,943 per gram and 22 K gold ₹14,614 per gram. Silver was priced at ₹255 per gram (₹2,55,100 per kilogram) in most cities, with Chennai and Hyderabad quoting a slightly higher ₹265 per gram. The Treasury’s decision to double its buyback program to USD 4 billion in the August quarter also added to the market’s optimism.
