As the Bihar elections draw closer, political parties are making numerous claims, focusing on the public and their own seat projections. Prashant Kishor, the strategist behind the Jan Suraaj Party, asserts that his party is committed to transforming Bihar’s governance, whether through participation in the government or through a prolonged struggle spanning five to six years. During a press conference held on Thursday, Kishor outlined several key points regarding the upcoming elections. He stated that Jan Suraaj would either rise to prominence or face setbacks. He indicated that the party could either secure a limited number of seats, necessitating five to six more years of effort, or achieve a significant victory, enabling them to overhaul Bihar’s administrative structure. Kishor emphasized that the change in Bihar’s governance is inevitable, regardless of whether it occurs from within the government or through sustained efforts over five years.
Kishor directly targeted Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, suggesting that the political landscape would be significantly altered after the election results are announced in November, implying that Nitish Kumar would not remain in his current position. Kishor also stated that the new Chief Minister, whoever it may be, would be instrumental in bringing about change in Bihar.
Kishor advocated for a governance model where the public’s voice is paramount, stating that true change in Bihar necessitates the rule of the people, not just the leaders. He urged people to vote based on concerns such as employment and children’s education.
Kishor criticized both the NDA and INDIA alliances, pointing out that during the early stages of their foot march, the BJP portrayed them as part of the INDIA alliance, while now, they are being labeled as part of the NDA. Kishor suggests that this indicates the widespread concern within both alliances about the influence and growing support for the Jan Suraaj Party.
