Potholes and Flooding Spur Unusual Demonstration in Bihar's Bhagalpur

For the past two years, the main road of Kiartanipa has been plagued by water stagnation, sinking pits and a relentless series of crashes. Local activist BamBam Singh recounted repeated applications to the public works department that only yielded empty assurances. Frustrated residents, including women leaders such as Sulochna Devi and Pramila Devi, gathered in large numbers to stage a protest unlike any other – planting a rice crop directly on the road surface. The demonstration aimed to force officials to acknowledge the crisis and begin immediate repairs.
