Political Shift in Bihar’s MLC Election as Anant Singh Ceases Opposition to JD(U) Candidate
The Bihar Legislative Council election landscape has been reshaped after Anant Singh, a former MLC from Mokama, decided to stop any opposition against JD(U) candidate Neeraj Kumar. The decision was taken after Union Minister Lalan Singh met with former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and senior JD(U) leaders, urging Singh to withdraw his campaign against the JD(U) nominee.
Lalan Singh confirmed to the press that Anant Singh will not issue any statements or conduct rallies targeting Neeraj Kumar. He added that the matter was escalated to a high‑level JD(U) meeting, which featured Sanjay Jha, Vijay Chaudhary, and Vijendra Yadav, where the party authorized him to intervene.
The upcoming election on October 23 will decide eight seats—four for graduates and four for teachers. JD(U) aims to consolidate its position, especially in the Patna graduate constituency, where Neeraj Kumar has won three consecutive terms.
Anant Singh had previously indicated that a direct call or message from Nitish Kumar would influence his actions. His recent silence reflects that promise, aligning his stance with the party’s broader electoral strategy.
