Police Probe Suicide of Karina Devi Amid Claims of Domestic Conflict
The Navada district police are conducting a detailed inquiry after 30‑year‑old Karina Devi was found hanging in her Pitthori residence. Her husband, Vijay Sharma, told investigators that the couple’s relationship had deteriorated because Karina frequently spoke with another young man on the phone, despite his attempts to stop her.
Vijay Sharma said he had warned his wife several times and even filed a complaint with the local police about a year ago. According to him, the issue was temporarily settled, and Karina had assured both families that it would not recur. The husband claims that renewed arguments over the same subject preceded the tragic act.
The victim’s mother, speaking to local reporters, refused to attribute blame to her son‑in‑law. She highlighted that her daughter had been in contact with peers before marriage, but after the ceremony she had given her word not to continue such interactions.
Authorities arrived at the scene quickly, recovered the deceased’s mobile phone, and forwarded the body to Sadar Hospital, Navada, for a post‑mortem. Technicians are now examining call‑detail records to piece together the timeline of events leading up to the suicide.
The police have indicated that any further legal steps will depend on the outcomes of the forensic and technical investigations.
