Police Arrest Accused in Nalanda Murder After Community Manhunt

After the gruesome killing of Kanti Devi, police from the Kalyan Biga police outpost launched an immediate operation to apprehend her husband, Mannu Kumar. Witnesses reported that Kumar attempted to flee the scene shortly after the shooting. Law enforcement set up a cordon around the village of Kolawan, coordinated with locals, and successfully captured the suspect within hours. A handgun was seized from his possession and forwarded to the forensic lab for trajectory and fingerprint testing. The forensic science laboratory (FSL) team also collected DNA and ballistic samples from the crime scene. The victim’s body was transported to Biharsharif General Hospital for a post‑mortem that will confirm the cause of death and any additional injuries.
