Patna MLC Poll: Neeraj Singh's Pointed Message to Anant Singh
Neeraj Kumar of the JDU has won the Patna Graduate Constituency seat in the Bihar Legislative Council elections. The contest was one of the most discussed in the region, as Jan Suraaj Party candidate Anuj Singh had the support of Mokama MLA Anant Singh.
Following his win, Neeraj Singh made pointed remarks directed at Anant Singh. He thanked Nitish Kumar, Nishant Kumar, Samrat Choudhary, Upendra Kushwaha, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Chirag Paswan for his success. He added that the celebrations were still to come.
On Anant Singh, he said, 'Let it go... as you sow, so you reap... will he come out of his house or not? He should now look for a new place to live.'
What Anant Singh said after the defeat
Anant Singh acknowledged the result once the counting was over. He said he had lost and asked what else could be said on the matter. He questioned whether votes had been bought from a shop or weighed out, and said the people's verdict is paramount and that God stands with them. He emphasised that those who received public votes had won and those who did not had lost. He said he had never been angry with the party and questioned why he should congratulate Neeraj Kumar, saying he would wait to see if a call came.
Neeraj Singh's statement during counting
While counting was underway, Neeraj Singh had said a man should never become a subject of pity and should aim to be an object of envy. He said he did not rely on money or muscle power but on public support and the commitment of his workers. He invoked the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, Bhagwati and Baba Parshuram, and said he was a follower of Gandhi, who had driven the British out of India without holding any power.
Rasgullas made for celebration
Anant Singh was certain that Anuj Singh would win and worked actively for him, opposing Neeraj Kumar. At his residence, several quintals of rasgullas were prepared and distributed among supporters as counting began. Celebration scenes emerged before results were declared, but the seat went to Neeraj Kumar, and Anuj Singh was defeated.
