Patna Authorities Probe Fatal Shooting Linked to Prolonged Land Conflict
Patna's law‑and‑order machinery is under scrutiny after a lethal gunfight broke out over a disputed piece of land in the Hirandarpur neighbourhood of Deedaraganj. The incident left a father and his three sons gravely injured while they were carrying out work on the contested site.
The injured parties, identified as Dwarika Singh and his sons—including Bholakumar—were immediately transferred to Nalanda Medical College Hospital for emergency care. Their condition remains serious.
Sources close to the case indicate that the land dispute has been simmering for a considerable period, with both factions filing claims. The family maintains that they filed a complaint with Deedaraganj police well before the attack, yet no decisive action was taken, which they say contributed to the tragedy.
Social media posts feature a short clip that appears to show several men with rifles confronting the workers. Authorities have not authenticated the video, and a thorough investigation is underway. Deedaraganj SDPO Avdhesh Kumar is overseeing the inquiry, focusing on the chain of events, the perpetrators' identities, and any procedural lapses that may have allowed the violence to occur.
